Description
Much like the fundamental "law of conservation of energy" in the realms of chemistry and physics, emotions exhibit a similar conservation. Emotions between individuals will change and circulate, continuously transforming and rearranging themselves, but never truly vanishing. It’s a common experience that absorbing someone else's complaints or sorrows can sometimes leave one feeling depressed or angry. While the act of catharsis may benefit the speaker, it doesn't mean the emotions simply evaporate; they are transferred to and felt by the listener. In my work, I employ still life with surreal approaches to convey the message. At the center, a pump symbolizes the role of a speaker, continuously injecting negative emotions into a balloon. However, what this balloon receives isn't air, but sharp nails, so many that they pierce its fragile skin. Scattered around are more balloons, representing potential "listeners," highlighting the perpetual exchange of emotions in our interactions.
